The work Garden is an immersive material performance, a staging of coloured liquid dripping onto a series of salt-coated rocks. Enclosed within an overture – a framework of proposals – the performance unfolded over a period of three months and offered a continued space of investigation of raw material.  Apart from a basic but influential structure, the elements were left to evolve on their own terms without further artistic intervention.

Once every hour, thirteen containers suspended from the ceiling in a grid-like manner released a splash of colourful fluid onto the thirteen salt-encrusted rocks positioned underneath. The controlled drips penetrated the crystalized coat of salt and sustained the continuum of the process taking place. Due to the prolonged timing of the work’s mechanism, the momentum of the installation was suspended throughout the course of the exhibition, leaving the work to slowly develop over time, all the while clearly exposing the potential energy of the system’s setup.
